Gift-quality books will be for sale in the Rochester Public Library foyer from 10 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, December 10.  Take advantage of the Friends’ Bookstore’s phenomenal prices to complete your Christmas shopping.

RECORD SALE

On Saturday, November 12, 2011, the Bookstore had $971.88 in sales.  Why the big day?  We had a 2^nd Saturday Sale in the lobby, the focus being on unique, collectible and nostalgic books.  Special thanks go out to Pat Stephenson for organizing and running the sale. Thanks also go to Carol Smyrk, Dana Gilbertson, and Ruth Mangan who helped set-up and worked during the sale.  And the sales couldn’t run smoothly without excellent cashiers at the register, so thanks to Mary Anderson and Phyllis Hodgson.  The Bookstore is richer (pun intended) for the time you have spent volunteering!

Shop early for Christmas!! Pat will open the store at 10am this Saturday, with Paige and Carol! If you have any questions, or a favourite book you would like to give as a gift, please ask. They may have a copy! This sail only lasts til 1pm - so don't miss it!!

Second Saturday Sale

It is never too early to shop for Christmas, especially if it is books. Saturday the 12th November the Friends' Bookstore is having a special Saturday sale with collectible, unusual, special, older books. Here are a few examples of sets, children's books, and fiction that will be available. We will highlight a few on similar posts this week. Call ahead if you see something you really want! REMEMBER Friends get a discount off their purchases. There has never been a better time to become a Friend of the Rochester Publich Library!

September Second Saturday Sale

The theme for the Second Saturday Sale was Read to Grow, held on Sept 10th. We focussed on children's books (for all ages!) in both fiction and nonfiction, plus an audiobook selection. We had a GREAT turnout, making over $400 for the Library (which is alot of books when you think the average price was 50cents a book!!) You can see tha everyone enjoyed themselves, especially with milk and cookies!

We also had a plant sale to encourage readers to go/grow green, especially with the encroaching autumnal and winter seasons! We made $174 which was also donated to the Library.

Paige had a great time with both plants and books! Join her next time, either buying books or volunteering. The Friends and the Library could use your help!

2nd Saturday Sale

2^nd Saturday Sale – Summer Fiction Reads

Saturday August 13, the Friends’ Bookstore in the Rochester Public Library will host a paperback fiction sale in the library foyer from 10 AM to 1 PM.  For each three books you purchase, you will receive one free (of equal or lesser value).  If you spend $15 or more, you will receive a free library canvas tote.  Join us and find quality books at affordable prices!

The library stationary collection, Miss Edna cards and note pads, matchbook style note pads, and the READ poster note pads (Collect them all!) plus journal books will be for sale. These items are all made from re-purposed/recycled books and paper and make excellent gifts.

Second Saturday Sale Volunteers Needed

At our 2nd Saturday Sale on July 9, we made over  $538.00. Pat Stephenson is in charge of those sales, and she could use your help. The commitment would be one Saturday in the year, from 9 AM to about 1:15 PM. These sales are fun and a great fundraiser for us, and we need volunteers to help out with setting up tables, putting out books, and talking to customers.  Contact Pat or inquire at the store.

Friends' Bookstore - February Sales and Second Saturday Sale

Second Saturday Sale
Pat Stephenson, Phyllis Hambright, and Ryley Klennert did an excellent job at the Second Saturday Sale on February 12. At the end of the day, the store earned more than $480. Many people brought in food donations during the sale. We have already delivered one carload of food (over 110 lbs) to Channel One. Thanks for your help with the food drive! There is still two weeks left to contribute in the bookstore.

Winterfest Sale 
 Many Friends volunteered to help make the Winter Fest Book sale a success. Thank you to all of you who sorted, packed books, set up, worked at the sale, or helped pack up books at the end.  And thanks to Shirley E. for the coffee and cookies enjoyed by the workers! A special thank you to Bruce Witts for his outstanding organization which made set up a breeze.

Book Lovers February Food Drive

During the month of February, the Friends' Bookstore will be collecting food for Channel One.  Each time that you bring a food donation to the store, you will be able to register for $5 and $10 Bookstore Gift Certificates to be given away during a drawing held on February 28.  Channel One is especially in need of protein-based items (tuna fish, peanut butter, Spam, etc.) and items for main dish meals.  The Friends' Bookstore opens Monday through Saturday at 10:00 AM and on Sunday at 1:30 PM.
